Introduction
Hello! My name is Sara, and I am happy to meet you! I teach piano, voice, guitar, and music theory to students of all ages.
I offer high-quality lessons in New York City or online. In-person lessons are conducted in a clean, well-ventilated studio in Manhattan or Brooklyn, or in your home.
Students interested in remote music lessons can enjoy real-time audio with no internet delays.
My training includes voice and piano study at Juilliard, the Yale School of Music, NYU, and the NYC Drummer's Collective; I have also studied with great private teachers and technicians in the fields of jazz, harmony, music theory, acting and monologues, speech, and performance.
Background
I am an award-winning singer, songwriter, and pianist who has performed at Lincoln Center, in off-Broadway productions, and at national festivals.
My two albums have received international radio play and combine elements of my training in classical and contemporary piano, as well as folk and country singing. I am honored and delighted to have worked with musicians in every genre of music.
Methods
I have developed my own proprietary methods for teaching voice and piano. My methods combine sight-reading skills, rhythm training, ear training, music theory, lyrical expression, and repertoire development. They are informed by Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais Method.
I am open to helping students in ALL genres of music and do not discriminate. I do not think that one kind of music is inherently “better” or more legitimate than another. I know that all genres of music can offer something important to the student and can be used as a musical platform for the student's learning.
I am also delighted to help students master their foreign language delivery while singing the songs they love. I have helped individual voice students and choirs learn material in French, Spanish, Hebrew, German, Romanian, Italian and even Yiddish!
Students
I specialize in beginning and intermediate students, and I have had particular success with adult beginners. If you are a working adult or someone who is in retirement, and you’ve decided this is the time to explore music study, please contact me. We will create a specialized course of study that works around your schedule and interests, while making sure you are achieving steady progress in your musical goals.
I love helping someone with their musical development, and I am so proud that my students have made immense and lasting progress. My students have gone on to perform in professional productions, live concerts, music education, TV and film, and successful solo music and acting careers. Please click here for student testimonials!
